Managing Attorney
Kaelyn Guinty is an experienced attorney whose practice focuses on criminal defense, family law, and mediation. She is dedicated to providing thoughtful legal counsel, strong advocacy, and practical solutions for individuals and families facing some of life's most challenging legal issues. Whether defending clients against criminal charges, guiding families through divorce and custody disputes, or helping parties reach agreements through mediation, Kaelyn is committed to protecting her clients' rights while pursuing the best possible outcome.
Kaelyn earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2019. During law school, she gained valuable experience working with the Midwest Innocence Project and the school's Child and Family Services Clinic, where she developed a strong foundation in advocacy, client representation, and public service. She also began her legal career working in criminal defense and family law, gaining firsthand courtroom experience and developing the skills that continue to shape her practice today.
Throughout her legal career, Kaelyn has represented clients in a broad range of criminal defense and family law matters. Her experience includes divorce, mediation, child custody, parenting time, child support, guardianships, protective orders, paternity, comtempt, family access, and other domestic relations matters, as well as misdemeanor and felony criminal cases. She understands that every client's circumstances are unique and works closely with each individual to develop practical legal strategies tailored to their specific goals.
Licensed to practice law in both Kansas and Missouri, Kaelyn serves clients on both sides of the state line. She also serves as a Guardian ad Litem, representing the best interests of children in cases involving divorce, child custody, and parental rights and responsibilities. In this role, she conducts independent investigations and provides recommendations to the court regarding outcomes that promote a child's safety, stability, and overall well-being. This experience gives her valuable insight into complex family dynamics and strengthens her ability to advocate effectively for families navigating difficult transitions.
In addition to her litigation practice, Kaelyn is a trained mediator through MARCH Mediation. She believes that mediation can often provide families with a more efficient, cost-effective, and less adversarial path to resolving disputes. By fostering productive communication and helping parties identify common ground, she works to minimize conflict while empowering clients to reach lasting, practical agreements whenever possible.
Known for her compassionate approach, responsive communication, and diligent advocacy, Kaelyn is committed to guiding clients through every stage of the legal process with professionalism and integrity.
